How support helps us move toward independence
Support during this time helps us with practical steps, not luxury. It helps us cross the first difficult bridge between release from detention and a stable, independent life.
After release, many basic things need to be rebuilt at the same time: phone service, groceries, medicine, transportation, documents, copies, communication with our attorney, immigration appointments, and the search for a place to rent.
Because we are currently in isolation, help with groceries and basic supplies is especially important. When people assist us, we try to handle it carefully, without turning it into visits or social meetings, because we want to respect the quarantine period.
We are deeply grateful to the people who have helped us with food, clothes, phones, and first necessities. These things may sound simple, but after detention they mean connection, safety, and the ability to function again.
Every act of help gives us one more piece of normal life back.
A working phone is not just convenience. It means being reachable for our attorney, immigration offices, housing opportunities, relatives, and people who are trying to help us. Internet access and communication are now part of staying organized and responsible.
Another important step is basic financial setup: banking access, payment methods, rent applications, deposits, bills, and the ability to manage everyday expenses. These are ordinary tools for many people, but after detention they have to be rebuilt from the beginning.
Support also helps with health recovery: fresh food, vegetables, fruit, medicine, calm sleep, and time to come back to ourselves. We are not trying to rush life. We are trying to return to it carefully.
Right now, each small expense matters because life has to be rebuilt from almost zero. A phone, groceries, transportation, medicine, copies, internet, documents, and rental costs are not small things for us — they are the tools that help us move forward.
Your support gives us time, stability, and a bridge from survival to independence. It helps us return to life carefully, one step at a time.
